Current IT application infrastructures in many companies are driven by business users. EC2 team are accustomed to these siloed systems and lately have ported ec2-connect integration platform to support SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), this enhancement is ensuring that our customers are able to maintain and extend its IT infrastructure to support issues that arises in today's rapidly changing global marketplace.

Some of the business challenges that trigger our customers to start enhancing to SOE (Service Oriented Enterprise) are:

1. Globalization

Business must be agile and able to compete globally; whenever competitors can make the same product for less then the business needs to respond swiftly and creatively. At the same time, IT shall be able to response by flexible and agile infrastructure to support those changes without disrupting other systems.

2. Economic Pressures

Market put additional pressures to companies on growth and this often leads to mergers and acquisitions to grab more market at once. As a consequence to it, business and IT organizations have to automatically consolidate and simplify disparate people, processes and systems.

3. Business Process Outsourcing

This trend is expected to grow exponentially in the next few years. Outsourcing enables enterprises to focus on their core businesses and outsource supporting services to other parties such as human resources, call centers, and data centre management oursourcing companies. The challenge for the IT organization is to integrate those external (third-party) business processess and data back into core business.

4. Regulatory Compliance

Enterprises have to comply to government regulations to stay in business. Regulatory changes are common things to happen and it often diverts attention and focus of business and IT organizations away from core business issue.

5. Technology

New technologies have the potential to create new business capabilities. But seizing new opportunities can also create new challenges, especially for IT. Tough choices have to be made by IT between maintaining, upgrading existing IT systems and investing in new systems to create new business opportunity.

6. Lack of Cohesive Business Information Strategy

In most cases, line of business (LOB) decision makers do not clearly understand the benefits of shared infrastructure and business logic. They focus on their immediate need, and IT responds, often developing multiple systems with almost identical functionality but conflicting algorithms that complicate any attempts at integration and consolidation. Many companies have multiple applications (packaged and custom) for sales force automation

(SFA), quoting, and order management. Corporate structures, too, often provide little incentive for sharing and cross team collaboration. This can

lead to a project focus in IT, rather than a coherent business information strategy and business-based IT infrastructures.

7. Standards

At last count there were many standards bodies addressing various aspects of SOA. Their efforts are not coordinated, so the result is almost the same as having no standards at all. It’s up to individual IT groups to decide which “standards” to follow.

Although the company is fairly new, the establishment of EC2 was driven by very strong presence of all the founders who have a combined existence in the IT industry of more than 35 (thirty five years) and also because of the demand in the market for a strong solution provider in data and process integration.
